The Lodges at Ada’s Vineyard are located in Ada’s Vineyard, an actual working vineyard with 15 year old cabernet sauvignon vines. The vines produce excellent fruit and have been used in many local wines. Gary and Kathy Tucker, owners of the vineyard have also used the fruit for their own estate wines. The vines are farmed sustainably, with regular applications of compost and careful pruning. At Ada’s Vineyard eldercare guests are provided with large five by five foot windows in residential care rooms. These windows provide assisted living guests at Ada’s Lodges with views of the Vineyard and its many natural visitors including quail and red fox. Long term care at Ada’s vineyard encourages seniors to feel a part of the seasons, with flowering plants, colorful fall foliage, and producing fruit trees to remind them of nature’s gifts.
The Lodges at Ada’s Vineyard were constructed using environmentally friendly products, with a solar energy system, energy star appliances, and individual heating and air conditioning systems in resident care rooms. Ceiling fans in all rooms assure senior residents are allowed control of their environment with minimal energy usage. All residential care guests’ laundry is done on site, with low energy and low water use washers and dryers. Kitchens have energy efficient and low water usage commercial style dishwashers for minimal water use with maximum sanitation. Recycling bins for senior care guests and facility use are provided in both lodges. Lighting in Ada’s lodges is provided with compact fluorescent bulbs. Outdoor and many indoor lights are on timers and photocell switches to provide our seniors with a safely lit environment using minimal energy. Senior care rooms have compact fluorescent lighting over each bed, to allow reading and easy access to light at nights for optimum residential care safety.
Along with daily living assistance, long term care guests at Ada’s Lodges are encouraged to participate in container gardening during the spring and summer months. Including local produce in our dining is a big part of our elder care program. Using local fruits and vegetables is part of our senior care philosophy, and are used regularly in our meals. Our assisted living facility also provides local in-season fruits for snacks, and local wines are available for seniors who have physician approval as part of their adult care plan.
